“Nunca se deve esquecer o exército de mulheres que apoiaram seus homens enquanto eles mataram dezenas de milhares de pessoas na Rússia, na Polônia, em lugares como Auschwitz e Treblinka. A história do nacional-socialismo tem há muito sido reduzida a uma que culpou os homens por tudo. O fato é que as mulheres estavam envolvidas em todos os crimes mais infames e brutais do Terceiro Reich… Sempre houve escolhas, mesmo dentro do Terceiro Reich, e as mulheres fizeram suas próprias escolhas tanto quanto os homens. Quem datilografava os números de vítimas assassinadas pelos Esquadrões da SS no leste e operava os rádios que comandavam mais balas eram invariavelmente secretárias – e às vezes muito mais – em todos as posições da Gestapo. E, ao final da guerra, essas mulheres tentaram diminuir a sua responsabilidade, dizendo que eles eram apenas engrenagens de uma máquina toda masculina que lhes deu as ordens.”
“One should never forget the legions of women who stood by their menfolk as they killed people by the tens of thousands in Russia, in Poland, in places like Auschwitz and Treblinka. The history of National Socialism has long been reduced to one that blamed men for everything. The fact is women were involved at all levels of the Third Reich’s most infamous and brutal crimes… There were always choices, even within the Third Reich, and women often made their own choices as much as men. They typed the statistics of the murdered victims of the SS Action Squads in the east, operated the radios which called up for more bullets, were invariably the secretaries — and sometimes much more — in all the Gestapo posts. And at the end of the war these women tried to diminish their responsibility by saying they were just cogs in the all-male machine which gave the orders.”
